The "trunk murders"

Postby ophion1031 » Mon Jan 22, 2018 6:38 am

I was asked to see if I could dig up any information on a 1969 murder in the bay area, but since there is nothing posted on the murder I will skip that because I don't know if the person wants it to be private or not...

Anyways, I did find that there was a suspect in the murder and this suspect's story is pretty crazy. I have no idea how I have never heard of this before.

The suspect, Winnie Ruth Judd, was defended by Melvin Belli for a short time. You can find a lot of stuff on her and her story online. Here is her Wikipedia page:

Is there a good information source regarding unsolved homicides in the bay area from the years between 1967 and 1972?

A list of the unsolved homicides and a brief description of the cases would be helpful.

All of the confirmed zodiac homicides were committed on "dali days" of the 13 moon calender, so just for fun I like to see if any particular dates from unsolved homicides correlate To the 13 moon calender.

It's likely a dead end, but it's kind of fun.

(I think some of the manson family murders correlated with the calender...August 9th 1969 is a dali day... July 25th 1969 is a "day out of time" on the 13 moon calender. Though I don't think that the manson family and the zodiac murders we're connected in any way. )

Do you have the dates of these "trunk murders"?

Zodiac claimed 37, is this even plausible, or possible?

Well, this was a woman and most likely has nothing to do with the Zodiac case, but the victim, Anna S. Aarons, her husband's name and profession interest me. He was a psychiatrist named Zelig Alexander Aarons. A while back I had researched a psychiatrist named Meyer Aaron Zeligs. Weird that the names are similar and they had the same profession. Meyer Zeligs' office was just a couple blocks from where Paul Stine picked up Z, and Zeligs' home was at Washington & Cherry.

Just curious
How did this post come about today? As Sandy & I were looking into Anna’s murder yesterday.
This happened in Alamo, CA 94507.
ANNA dropped her children off at school & then returned home. She was found dead in her back yard by the pool, murdered by a 2 ft. object, never found. Her husband was in their family home & heard nothing.
Winnie’s car was supposedly seen in the neighborhood as she worked one town over in Danville. Winnie escaped from
Prison & prior worked in Oakland.
Also made me think of Dr. Adams in Orinda.
Also thought of Elaine Davis’s, as her shoe was found on HW 680 & Stone Valley Road, Alamo.
Mt. Diablo near by.

I replied to your PM, Zam...

Another odd coincidence... Anna... and Elaine Davis... I dated a woman named Anna Elaine Davis and holy shit was she a psycho! I had to get a restraining order because she threatened my kids. Her father was a police officer here who was into some bad stuff. He was in prison for a long time for robbery and had a shootout with police. He escaped from prison twice and was a suspect in some murders... Anyways, back on topic...

I can't really find a whole lot on Anna's murder. Can't find much on her or her husband. Maybe her murder should have it's own thread? If not, that's cool. I wasn't sure if you wanted a thread on Anna, so I started this as a thread for Winnie Judd. Her story is very interesting.

Well, the trunk murders were two women who were killed in 1931 by Winnie Ruth Judd. At times Winnie claimed it was self defense, but she also confessed to murder at other times. I really doubt Winnie knew Zodiac or had anything to do with the Zodiac murders, and I don't think she had anything to do with the murder of Anna S. Aarons. Her car was spotted in the area is all, which I don't know how all that happened. She was using another name, Marian Lane, at the time and had been hiding out for over six years after escaping from a mental hospital. She had a good job doing in-home care for a woman who considered her to be part of her family. Judd's brother turned her in to the police and she was taken back to Arizona, where she committed the trunk murders. Anna S. Aarons could be a Zodiac victim, but it was probably just coincidence that Winnie Judd's car was spotted near the Aarons' home. Unless I read some of the articles wrong, I think Winnie was accused of being Anna Aarons' killer, and went to trial for it, where she was defended by Melvin Belli. That is how I understand it anyways.

Yeah, I assumed the case involving the woman was unrelated To zodiac, however I still like To do my little "13 moon calender" experiment.

The bit about Meyer zelig is fascinating, a man (whose last name starts with a "z") who lives near a zodiac crime scene, very interesting.

I still would like to find a quick and efficient method of reviewing all unsolved homicides from the bay are a between the years of 1965 to 1973. Zodiac claimed 37, I want To first see if this is even plausible or possible, then I would like To attempt to connect any of these unsolved homicides to zodiac. Its just a thought at this point, but who knows, it may prove to be a productive venture. (I am sure many others have done exactly this, but I always like to give my try at things)

I assumed that these murders were unrelated To zodiac, but was also fairly unclear on things.

Thank you for elaborating and clearing things up, I apologize for my ignorance regarding this particular topic, and I apologize if my questions are causing any hassle.

The responses have been very informative, this is quite interesting. I am going to do some quick research before I rejoin the conversation. Intersting stuff.

Thank you for your reply. No problem, continue on as it’s a very interesting case & synchronizaty to the Z case.
I was aware of this case & asked Sandy to look up additional information as she’s great at finding information.
Alamo was a very small community back then & this probably shook the whole town, for a while.
Speaking of Elaine Davis, her family lived in Alamo at one time, prior to moving to Pioneer Road in Walnut Creek, I posted about it a long while back in her thread. Her Dad worked for McPeak Motors in Walnut Creek, per our findings while researching. (Synchronizity McPeak = Peek, ha I’m seeing things!)
