Vallejo Z Stories as told to Zamantha

I have a few Vallejo Z Stories that have been told to me over the years. I figure I should share the information in case any of them will help solve the case. Now you have to remember it's been over 44 years, so some of these memories might be right, some might of faded a little.
Here is the first one I thought I would share:

Spoke to a Vallejoan about her memories on the Z case. She was parked across the street at Blue Rock Springs waiting for her friend Ron Bryant to get home. A car pulled up behind her, a man with Glasses & looked like he had short dark hair. If she remembers correctly it was a dark colored car. Ron's parents were the caretakers of BRS. When her friend Ron showed up the car sped off quickly. She told Ron about it but he said it was probably nothing to worry about.
She also said they stopped to talk to Betty Lou and David that nite with two other friends and caught them kissing. So they teased them & talked for about 15 minutes, then left to let them enjoy their date. She feels they were killed about 1/2 hour after they left.
She knew two guys who were trying to solve the case. They feel the Z was in Jail in Fairfield at one time, and felt they had the right guy. He was in his 30's or 40's.

This in fact is even more than interesting..do you know the ID of this Fairfield inmate? Curious if it's a match to the my name is..do you still have any contact to those two investigators? I guess they had acted according to what that Vallejoan (friend of Ron Bryant) had told, maybe they had known the identity because of the car?

How about a name for the guy they thought may be Z?? There ARE some people in the various reports that were in jail at one time or another. Also, Bryant(the young man)the caretaker's son, was in the police report, hearing the gunshots at BRS on 7/4/69

Yes, Bryant was in the police reports & did report the gunshots. Lake Herman was prior & perhaps he/they didn't make the connection until later. Also, maybe there was a reason young kids don't report everything they know, I can't speak for the person I spoke to, but yes I'm trying to get more information. Sometimes I find people recall bits & pieces of what happened, so I think it's best to report all the possible bits & pieces. I've been holding on to some stories as I don't have all the information I would like. But at this point, I feel I would like to start sharing what I learned. Just takes one piece of the puzzle to add up to another. Speaking of Bryant, I don't think I ever saw a picture of him, does anyone have one?

As told to me by a Vallejo guy.

Rick Crabtree, was the guy that hung out with Darlene a few months before the Z got to her. He was a trouble maker and alway got into havoc. As a teenager he accidentally shot his older brother out in the fields. He took his Dad's 22 rifle from the house and started shooting it. He shot at his brother & killed him instantly, he said he didn't think it was loaded. He later dropped out of school & got heavy into the drug scene. This guy thinks this is why Darlene let him hang out at her house. He feels that it's true, that Darlene knew who the Z was, he also feels Rick Çrabtree knew the Z as well.
In the mid 70's, Rick Crabtree lived on a hill top of Virginia Street. Someone saw him acting real shaky, he said some guy was after him, he was carrying a gun with him. They don't know if the guy after him was the Z or a drug dealer. Rick Crabtree was pretty scary. They feel Rick Crabtree died of an over dose. They don't feel Rick Crabtree was smart enough to be the Z, but but probably knew the Z, that he was just crazy, out there & into drugs.
I was also told of the shooting by another friend, so I know it to be true. Let's dig around more on Rick Crabtree & see what we can find.

Rick Crabtree's family use to live off of PINE St. and Sheridan St. in a trailer park that their Dad owned back then. When Rick shot his brother they moved to the Palisades Apartments.

Heard another one, possible Z Story as told to Zamantha*

Yes I heard something and or read about this person. I would like to see a photo of the senior Keating because in the summer of 72 me and a friend was driving on Lake Herman road and a Police car pulled us over directly stopped on the spot where Betty Jensen was murdered . He approached the car with a bright flashlight shining into my face but I was able to see his square glasses and short hair and I never thought about this incident until a couple of months ago when it just hit me that he may have been the zodiac. The car he had had a spotlight like a cop car on the drivers side but it just didnt look like a cop car.
