1964 yearbook

1964 yearbook

Postby Quicktrader » Sun Oct 02, 2016 3:29 pm

Besides the desktop poem, some poem showed up in the 1964 yearbook (some people have speculated that it might be written by Z):

I am a stupid ugly gwib
My brain is small, my head is big
I'm cursed by every living man
For invading Ramona's sacred land
I feed on rats instead of bread
I hate myself, I wish I was dead

IF the poem was written by Z, the question comes up what a 'gwib' actually is. It may be assumed that it could be some sort of stroller, vagrant, gnome or something. In Welsh language, which differs from English in many words, some words start with 'gwib'. It appears as if it is still used today, e.g. as 'Gwib y Ddraig" ('gnomes and dragons'), although rarely. It appears as if it is a short form of 'gwibiad':

So far, this is the only Welsh guy in the yearbook:

We also remember the "Welsh" description of Fouke (correct?), meanwhile I still wonder how a Welsh guy actually should look like..

Good work, QT! "Ramona's sacred land" may refer to the novel, "Ramona" by Helen Hunt Jackson that is annually presented at the Ramona Pageant in the Riverside area. Reminds me of Zodiac's interest--if not obsession--with "The Mikado." Two literary types? Or one literary type with varied interests?
