Sullivan

Hi,

both, the Little-List-letter as well as the Exorcist-letter refer to Mikado by Gilbert/Sullivan. It should be considered, that those two letters had been sent approx. 3.5 years apart from each other. In my opinion this really weird, as nobody would usually refer to a theatre play twice over years. Even an actor would rather refer to another play he currently is into, if not again playing the same role (such as Koko). Indeed, both texts actually do refer to Koko's role, implying that IF Z was an actor he may have had played the role of Koko.

In the Exorcist letter, Z mentions:

Signed, yours truley:
He plunged him self into the billowy wave and an echo arose from the sucides' grave titwillo titwillo titwillo

Now there is another possibility - Z mentions 'Signed, yours truley', therefore 'signing' his comment about the exorcist movie. Usually someone 'signs' with his or her name. The text phrase ('He plunged himself..') itself, however, does not contain any name. One may think that he refers to a 'tomtit', what somehow appears to unlikely being a name. Or 'Koko', which would refer to his role in acting.

A third possibility, however, is that it refers to Gilbert/Sullivan, therefore referring to his true name, which might have been 'Sullivan'. With our POI 'Ross Sullivan', this could also explain why the author had referred to this particular play twice over those 3.5 years.

Here's a stretch, but along the same thinking. Suppose Me - 37 SFPD - 0
means Me - R (18th letter) + S (19th letter)

Maybe the 37-0 wasn't a score, but rather a signature of sorts.

I don't blame you. It's an old in-joke to myself really and the only person that might remember it or pick up on it is duckking. The O.R. is for Occam's Razor. The bit underneath is actually the response to Marshall's post. ;)

Yes, I knew my little theory probably had no merit & was more whimsical than anything. But I do wonder about that 37.

A lot of people here believe Zodiac did it more for the notoriety than the killing itself. He really didn't seem to enjoy the killing, and frankly, he wasn't very good at it, leaving 2 of his 7 confirmed victims alive. If he liked what he was doing, he would've been better at it.

So, the idea that he'd do all this bragging about these 7 victims, while also killing 30 other people and not telling us enough about them to claim credit, doesn't make sense.

It's like a guy going to work, doing the job, and then not asking to be paid.

Some People that support Gaikowski as Z, think it was Z saying "I'm 37" (years old)since Gaik was 37 at the time

Be interesting to know if any investigation has been conducted on Ross Sullivan's possible attendance of The Exorcist movie anytime between the dates Wednesday 12/16/1973 (U.S. opening) and Tuesday, 01/29/1974 (Zodiac Exoricist letter postmark date). I know we can't know if he attended or was even in town but we do know from his death certificate that he lived in Santa Cruz from 1974-1977. I conducted an Internet search and found a movie theater at 1475 41st Avenue Capitola, CA. It was originally called The 41st Avenue Playhouse, which opened as a triple screen on 06/28/1973. This movie theatre is located approximately 2.8 miles (6 minutes) from Ross' residence at Live Oak Assisted Living. If Ross was Zodiac, and Zodiac truly authored the Exorcist Letter (which I believe he did), then it stands to reason he would have attended this brand-new theatre close to his home AND it stands to reason this theatre, being new and all, would have shown one of the most popular movies of that time, The Exorcist. The owner, Gary Culver, died in 2009, so maybe other employees at the time could be interviewed. An internet search will reveal people talking about attending this theater during the time it first opened in 1973, early 1974.

It would also be nice to research Santa Cruz, CA and Capitola, CA newspapers to see if they ran any articles like the bigger papers did whereby they showed guests standing in line to see this popular movie. Maybe Ross would be seen in an article?

Better yet, look for local newspapers that ran editorials on the movie. I bet the killer would write an editorial that was opposite of his Zodiac letter whereby he, instead of calling it a comedy, would write a negative review of the movie.
