What happened January 2018?

Postby Jelberg » Sat Feb 03, 2018 4:23 pm

Multiple members of this site, voiced a similar opinion of growing tired of this case, in the first week or so of this year (2018). Was there some specific event that caused them to want to give up? It would be interesting to hear if there was something that happened, that the new members might have missed. After looking through the posts, there doesn't seem to be any particular thing that stands out.

What gives?

Interesting observation if it indeed is so!

Might be related to the History Channel show that finished airing in December. It appears that many people were disappointed by it and were expecting more out of it. I remember that before the show aired, Tom Voigt was hinting towards "2017 being a huge year in the Zodiac case" as if it would finally get solved (personally my opinion is that I am not a huge advocate of this kind of "hyping" unless there is actual basis for such statement). Folks must've gotten amped up by such promises. When no big revelation came, it must have frustrated people.

The thing about the Zodiac case is that it can easily get very frustrating, especially if you expect a solution to happen any time soon. It's good to be realistic and perhaps even slightly pessimistic. The case has went unsolved all these years - what are the odds it'll get solved tomorrow? All the new info or TV shows we get should be treated as bits that hopefully will set the motion forward but they are not miracles. As long as one can keep sort of a nonchalant attitude towards all these "promises" TV and other sources give, it's less likely to cause frustration.
